Leadership Recognition

“Leadership in the OCDSB is the demonstration of personal initiative to achieve a positive outcome.”

Students

Students and staff work hard throughout the year to enrich the school and global community. Students are engaged in helping each other by taking on the roles of Breakfast Club assistants, Lunch Monitors, and participating in the grade 6 to 8 Athletic Council and WEB Crew (Where Everyone Belongs).

Staff

The staff at Alta Vista believes that all students can learn given support and time. Teachers hold a wide range of professional qualifications in a variety of subjects. Staff actively participate in numerous professional development activities, and we recognize their initiative by providing and supporting opportunities for further professional growth. We want Alta Vista to be a safe, caring place where it is fun to learn. If you have visited our school you will know that our support staff, be it office or custodial, educational assistants or our library technician, are an integral part of our school. They work with our children to make them feel safe and secure. We are pleased with our results and continue to strive to do better.

Parents/Caregiver/Volunteers

Parental engagement at Alta Vista is strong. The active School Council organizes many events which draw the school community together: the September Welcome Back Barbecue and the May Spring Fair as well as monthly Friday night Family Movie nights. Our parent/caregiver community continues to fund a variety of initiatives to enhance our students’ school experience and to improve students’ learning.
